Default Valve Cover Gasket

Hello, all! Just to preface this thread, I wanted to let you know that, in spite of the name of this forum, I am not, in fact, an owner of a Honda. I am, however, lending some of my mechanical knowledge and abilities to a friend of the family to assist her with repairing her smoking Odyssey.

Her car is a 1995 Odyssey with the 2.2 inline four. It has a tick under 160,000 miles, so low mileage for the year. She texted my wife in a panic over some stinky smoke coming out from under the hood, and asked if she (or I) knew what it could be. I told her "white is coolant, and it's steam, gray is oil, so what color?" Turns out, nobody could identify the color, other than that it was stinky.

She dropped the car off this morning, and I looked at it this afternoon, and saw that there was a bead of oil around the valve cover gasket area, but I got it hot and took it for a spin anyway. Came back, sure enough, it's coming from a valve cover leak spilling onto the exhaust manifold and burning off.

So onto the main thrust of the question: is there anything tricky that I need to know about with working on these valve covers? It looked like a fairly straightforward removal to me, but I was looking for expert opinions and, unfortunately, Google is letting me down on doing a quality search.

Thanks for the help, friends!
